smarties cupcake 2Who doesn’t love Smarties?!?!

I have incorporated an all-time favorite into an all-time favorite; cupcakes!!

This recipe is so great and you can make it with any color at all so that it can be used for any occasion or holiday! Blue/Red for July 4th, orange/yellow for Halloween, green/red for Christmas…

Cupcake Ingredients:

  • 1 box plain white cake mix
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil (I use applesauce)
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • food coloring
  • Smarties

Homemade Frosting Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c powdered sugar
  • 1/4 c softened butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp half-and-half cream
  • 5 drops food coloring

SmartiesCupcake Directions:

Combine all cupcake ingredients except food coloring.

Separate batter into two separate bowls.

Color each bowl a different color. For my purple batter, I added 4 drops of red and 4 drops of blue. For pink I used four drops of red.

Add several packages of Smarties directly into one of the batters.

Fill cupcake tins or cupcake liner 1/4 full with one color and another 1/4 with the other color.

cupcakesBake according to cake mix box.

Frosting directions:

You can take the easy way out and pop open a can of pre-made frosting or you can just go all the way…. icon smile

Beat all ingredients. You can add food coloring to the frosting to make them even more fun.

Top with Smarties and enjoy!!

I saw this on Pinterest earlier! I’m such a fan of colors, which is why it originally caught my attention, haha. I definitely want to try these out. I’m sure my hubby would like them, he loves smarties hahaha.

P.S. I agree with you on the whole laundry, dishes, dusting, etc…thing LOL.
