Sell (or buy) on eBay and help Colorado wildfire victims.

ebay giving worksIn the last 30 days the two most destructive fires in Colorado history have ripped through my beautiful state, burning more than 600 homes to the ground and taking three lives. It’s unthinkable. It’s unbelievable. It’s devastating. Here are a few photos I took of some of the HEROES.

High Park Fire – 259 homes, 87,284 acres. Second most destructive fire.
Waldo Canyon Fire – 346 homes, 17,920 acres. Most destructive fire.

There are currently 12 wildfires burning in the state of Colorado and during the last 30 days we have not only broken the record high for *the hottest day* in history, but we also broke the number of days over 100° and we have just barely welcomed in summer. It’s unthinkable. It’s unbelievable. It’s devastating.

I have felt so helpless sitting miles away from these fires only able to watch the devastation consume everything in it’s path. A few bloggers and I have been trying to figure out how to help, who to help, how to rally help….. from afar.

But I’m not swimming in cash, and frankly, you all live all over the world. USA is home for most of you, but Canada is second, United Kingdom is third, India, Australia, Philippines, Germany… All over the world. You’re probably not willing to ship household items to me, right? And since I am not a non-profit, I can’t collect funds.

You and I CAN help!

Enter eBay Giving Works!!!!

When you list an item on eBay you are given the option to pledge 10%-100% of the final selling price to more than 18,000 non-profit charities.

Here is your chance to help! Don’t ship those items to me, sell them on eBay and pledge 100% of your final selling price to one of the many organizations that are helping the victims from the fires. I have compiled a list of a few of the charities that are directly helping the victims here in Colorado:

AND? If you pledge to donate, eBay will give you a fee credit in the amount that you have pledged. So, if you pledge to donate 50% of your funds, eBay will credit 50% of the insertion fee. If you donate 100%, you will get a 100% fee credit. 10%… 10%. You get the point.

I am personally asking every one of you that reads this post to pledge 100% of FIVE items to one of the charities I have listed out above.

This weekend I am going to list 10 items and donate 100% of the selling price to one of the organizations that are local! Join me?

As an added bonus, eBay posts a special ribbon that calls out that your listing is has pledged to donate a portion to a charity.

Don’t have anything to sell right now? You can BUY items that are slated to donate to a specific charity as well. Just click on one of those links above and it provides you a list of items for sale under each charity.

Also, just another side note – you can now add photos to all eBay listings for FREE. YAY!!!
