Week 1 of Random Acts of Kindness
Inspired by this conversation on facebook, I decided to make a New Years Resolution to commit one random act of kindness per week and I have asked you all to join me.
Imagine how much nicer the world will be if we can all make someone else’s day brighter! This is a blog about saving money so my random acts aren’t necessarily going to be monetary in nature. I cannot wait to learn of all the kindness that you spread and I look forward to learning creative random acts! I would also LOVE to hear the reactions of the recipients if you are lucky enough to see them!
Random acts can be putting a quarter in an expired meter, passing on a coupon that you won’t use, paying for the person’s coffee behind you, shoveling your neighbors driveway (in the winter states, of course), leaving a flower on a friend’s car…. You can check that facebook post linked above for some really awesome ideas too.
I will post a Random Acts of Kindness post every Thursday so be sure to do something nice this week and post it next week. Since this is week 1 please feel free to post any type of random act that has been bestowed upon you or you have bestowed upon others at any time.
My random act week 1: Lunch for Jonesie is fairly late in the day. (Is it just horrible that I don’t know the exact time?????) So they have a snack time every day during the morning hours of class. The kids are supposed to bring a healthy snack – junk food isn’t allowed. Wednesday morning Jonesie asked what I had given him for snack, as he does every day, and I told him I gave him a Cutie (tangerine). Somehow we got on the subject of a kid in his class that never has a snack. I asked if he knew why and he said he didn’t. It got my mind wondering if the family just didn’t have the resources to send a snack to school everyday. I still don’t know what the kid’s situation is, but I stuck an extra Cutie in Jonesie’s lunch for him to “share”.
Bloggers, Feel free to post your own Random Acts of Kindness, please grab the button from the sidebar on the bottom right and enter your link.
