Homemade tortilla chips are a necessary addition to taco night in my house. I’m pretty sure that these tortilla chips will beat out any restaurant chip you can find. I’m willing to call this homemade salsa recipe pretty darn good too.
Ingredients
- 12 corn tortillas (each tortilla makes 4-5 chips)
- 2-3 c. Vegetable oil
- salt to taste (optional)
Directions
- Pour oil into frying pan and heat to medium low/medium
- Cut tortillas into four strips
Fry tortilla strips in preheated oil. See How to Make Homemade Tortilla Chips.
- Remove from oil
- Salt to taste
ENJOY! You can dip into your favorite salsa or guacamole but once you taste these you might want to eat them just plain!

Have you tried it with whole wheat or whole grain tortillas? I’m cutting out white flour as much as I can and wonder if they’d be good that way.
