Tis the season of giving. Giving Extra, that is.
My world is crazy. Like, CRAZY. I am a single mom, work full-time, write the blog, am taking three online college courses, have a puppy, a cat and a house to take care of. Sure, I only have one child at home right now, but he likes to be fed regularly. He likes to have clean clothes and a ride to/from school each day. The nerve. I would never be able to do what I do, and do it well, without the support of my mom.
I have been back to traveling for work lately; at least once a month. Sometimes more than once a month, and it always seems to fall in consecutive weeks. Of course it does. With my middle son away at school and my oldest busy with his own life, my mom steps right into my shoes and holds down the fort.
She takes my youngest to school and picks him up everyday. She stays in my house so it is never empty, and so the dog and cat have company too.
When I was asked to incorporate Extra gum in a Give Extra, Get Extra campaign, I knew right away that I was going to build a gift basket for my mom. It was a no-brainer.
When I had shoulder surgery in January she did everything. Literally. Including driving me to/from physical therapy twice a week for six weeks. She basically did everything I couldn’t do with one hand.
Even when I’m in town, though, she drops/picks up my son from school. As you all know, daycare is super expensive so I know what an incredible benefit this is. She also stays at the house during the day and keeps the puppy company so he is not in his kennel for 10 hours each day.
If I have had an exceptionally busy or stressful day she will even have dinner made when I walk in the door! There are no words to explain just how much this relief this gives me because there are some nights where I just want to walk in the door and fall into my bed.
I really could not do what I do without her help. Putting together a gift basket to give Extra was super easy. I chose to put together a gift basket with Extra gum, hot chocolate, marshmallows, comfy socks, and a very cute mug.
Who should you give Extra to?
