I was all sorts of busy over the holiday and one visit to JoAnn Fabric had me in the throes of crafty! I crocheted this beautiful throw, a scarf and pulled out the sewing machine and made a window valance. My throw isn’t done yet because JoAnn only had half of the amount of yarn I needed so it will be double the size shown above. I’m waiting patiently for the yarn, but I couldn’t wait to share the pattern because I’m in love.
This five and 1/2 hour throw is so beautiful and so easy that you’ll want to make another and another. Friend having a baby? Make a throw! Friend in the hospital? Make a throw. Friend moving to a new house? Throw.
Oh, and it will take me over 5.5 hours to make this, just not sure how much yet.
Five 1/2 Hour Throw
- Yarn: 18 balls of Lion Brand Jiffy – I used the color Fisherman
- Size Q crochet hook
- Large-eyed blunt needle
3 v-sts + 4 rows = 6 in” in V-st pattern with 3 strands held together.
V-Stitch (V-st): Work (dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated stitch or chain.
Here is a great YouTube video of the V-stitch in case you just can’t get it.
Throw is worked with three strands of yarn held together throughout.
With 3 strands of yarn held together, ch 67.
Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same st, * sk 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch; repeat from * to last 2 ch, sk 1 ch, dc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp (V-stitch made); rep from * across, ending with dc in top of turning ch.
Row 3-40: Repeat row 2. Fasten off.
Edging: Join 3 strands of yarn in any corner of the throw.
Edging Row: Ch 1, single crochet evenly spaced along edge of the throw. Fasten off. Rep along other long edge.
Fringe: For each fringe cut 9 strands approximately 22 in. long. Hold the 9 strands together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of throw, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Make fringe evenly spaced along top and lower edges of throw. Trim fringe evenly.
Weave in ends.
