Cheekbones and Clavicles – Medifast Week 9: Traveling with Medifast

by Jill on August 2, 2012

This last week I have seen the biggest change in my body since I started Medifast. Yes, I am working out every single day so that is helping to reshape my body for sure.

I have no weight update this week. I’m giving the scale, and my mind, a break. Plus, I have no access to the one scale I use for consistency this week either.

When I travel for work meetings it is usually full days of meetings with a breakfast of pastries and fruit. Lunch is in the hotel or a nearby restaurant. Snack is always cookies around 2:00 and then an amazing dinner filled with plate after plate of fried delicious appetizer, salad, main meal and ALWAYS finished off with dessert. Cheesecake for me. For 2-4 days straight. It doesn’t help that I work with all men. Men that like good eats.

And for whatever reason I was always drawn to buying a bag of peanut M&M’s or Starbursts in the airport.

Every night I would go to bed and lay there as bloated as a full-term pregnant woman and I would swear to myself that the next day I would eat better. I would only eat fruit for breakfast, skip the afternoon cookie and wouldn’t eat dessert. And every day I would eat myself into total discomfort. It wasn’t just physical discomfort either. Making a promise to myself every night and breaking it every day by 2:00pm is mentally exhausting and fueled my overeating.

I’m traveling this week and I’ll be with 13 men and that menu above will be repeated every day for four days. On the itinerary one night is dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant, but I’m cool with it. I’ll be having a chicken caesar salad. What I’m worried about is eating out for two meals a day. I will bring my Medifast meal with me and eat it while the others order, but having to do that twice per day doesn’t appeal to me.

But I? Am on Medifast! And I am not going to hurt myself. I’ve carefully planned out four days of five Medifast meals per day. Each day I will have two shakes, one bar, one snack (cereal or the new chili cheese puffs) and for the fifth meal I’ve brought a few different things (BROWNIES) because I know that I can be finicky and might not want what I have planned for that day. (PS I pack my clothes this way too. Hi, my name is Jill and I’m an over-packer.)

MF meals20 meals in my suitcase, minus the few that I’ll eat while traveling, sounds like it would be cumbersome to pack up and lug, but it really isn’t. I’ve reused on of my Medifast boxes for the crunchy snacks that will get crunched and the envelopes and bars don’t take up much room at all. And frankly if I had to pack another suitcase to stay on this thing I would do it! Haven’t I come so far!?!?? icon smile

Medifast 1My willpower is strong. I am working way too hard to give all of that up for a temporary feeling that will crush my spirit later.

Good for you!! It’s so hard to stay on track while traveling! But I know that you will do the very best that you can and once in a while I don’t think that it hurts to splurge a bit!
