“Why was the frosting so much better than normal?”
That’s what I heard tonight when the boys and I sat down to celebrate a night of all being home together!
The answer is Kraft Cool Whip Frosting.
J was going over to a friend’s house so I sent him a cupcake. The unsolicited answer back was “the cupcake was good, but the frosting and sprinkles were awesome!”
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 2 c all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 large egg whites
- 3/4 c milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- food coloring
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy
In a large bowl stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In another bowl combine egg whites, milk and vanilla.
Add 1/3 flour mixture to butter mixture. Add 1/2 milk mixture. Add 1/3 flour mixture. Add remaining milk mixture. Add remaining flour mixture. Scrape bowl and beat often while mixing.
Separate mixture into two halves.
Orange half: Add 8 drops of red and 4 drops of yellow. Mix well.
Yellow half: Add 6 drops of yellow food coloring.
Fill cupcake tin 1/3 full with orange.
Fill to 2/3 with yellow.
Bake for 25-30 or the toothpick test.
I made candy corn cupcakes to celebrate our little family having one night at home together. We aren’t all home very often so it deserves a celebration in itself!
The orange was supposed to stay on the bottom so that the cupcake came out with a layered look – like a candy corn – with white Cool Whip Frosting on top just like a candy corn, but the orange seeped up the sides and did it’s own thing.
And had a good time with them, we sure did!
Jonesie said “I could have just eat the frosting.” J responded “Well, you did.”
Here is what all the excitement is about:
Kraft Cool Whip Frosting. It’s new. It’s news. It’s awesome. Obviously. I could literally just sit down with a spoon and eat it like ice cream. It’s easy to work with it literally just frosts right on just like regular Cool Whip. It doesn’t pull and rip at the cake, it went right on!
It is made with real cream cheese and is kept either in the freezer or refrigerator. YUMMMM! You can find it in the freezer section next to the regular Cool Whip.

Those look delicious. I am loving these cupcake recipes. My family thought the frosting was better than normal too.
Those look so good! MUST try your recipe and this new Cool Whip!
Love the “look mom no hands pic” ! I tried the cream cheese flavor and thought it was excellent – so much lighter than other store-bought frosting’s.
